A direct Google review link saves the customer from having to search for your business. It opens the intended path for leaving a rating and, if desired, a comment.
The Google interface evolves regularly. The official method today is to open your business profile, then use the "Get more reviews" action. Here is the procedure on desktop and phone, as well as a control method in Google Maps.
Before you begin
Log in to the Google account that manages the business profile. Also, check that you are opening the correct profile if your account manages several.
The name, address, and photos displayed must correspond to your business. A link retrieved from a similarly named profile may send customers to the wrong place.
Official method from your business profile on desktop
- Log in to the Google account that manages the profile.
- Search for the exact name of your business on Google.
- In the profile management controls, select "View reviews."
- Then select "Get more reviews."
- In the sharing window, choose "Copy" to copy the review link.
- Paste the link into a temporary document to test it.
Depending on the interface version, labels may differ slightly. Look for an action that explicitly mentions getting or requesting reviews, not just sharing the profile.
Method from a phone
- Open Google or Google Maps with the account that manages the business.
- Access your business profile.
- Open the reviews area or management controls.
- Choose "Get more reviews" or the sharing action associated with reviews.
- Copy the suggested link.
- Paste it into your phone's notes or email it to yourself to test.
If the action does not appear in the app, open a mobile browser, log in to the correct account, and search for the business name. The management interface integrated into Google search may then display the profile controls.
What can you do from Google Maps?
Google Maps is useful for finding and verifying the profile. Search for the business, open its profile, then check the name, address, and Reviews section.
Caution: The "Share" button visible on a Maps profile may copy a link to the general profile, and not a link that directly opens the review request. Use it only as a verification solution. To get the link intended for reviews, prefer the "Get more reviews" action available in the owner's controls.
How to test the link?
- Open an incognito window.
- Paste the link into the address bar.
- Check the business name and address.
- Verify that the process allows you to choose a rating and write a review.
- Repeat the test on a different phone if possible.
Do not post fake reviews during the test. It is enough to verify that the correct screen opens, then close the window.
Common mistakes
Copying the Google search link
An address copied from the search results page may contain many parameters and not directly open the review form. Use the link provided by the "Get more reviews" action.
Sharing the wrong business profile
Businesses with multiple locations must retrieve a link for each profile. Always check the address before programming.
Using an untested shortened link
A link shortener adds an intermediary and may stop working. The official Google link is preferable when you program it into a durable medium.
Testing only when logged in as owner
The owner may see a different interface than a customer. A private window or another phone allows checking the public path.
Promising a benefit in exchange for a review
Google requires reviews to reflect a real experience and prohibits offering a product, service, or discount in exchange for a review. Present the link as an invitation to give an honest review, whether positive or negative.
Where to provide the link during the DPA TAP order?
On the product page, choose the model and offer, then enter the business name in the designated field. Then paste the link into the "Google Link" field.
For a pack of two plaques, fill in each plaque separately. You can use the same link for two locations of the same business or two different links for two distinct profiles.
If you do not yet have the link, at a minimum, indicate the exact name and address of the profile in the order remarks. Programming will need to be validated before shipping.
Frequently asked questions
Do you need to own the profile to get the link?
The "Get more reviews" method is offered in the profile management controls. Therefore, log in with an authorized account to manage it.
Does the link work on iPhone and Android?
The link is a web address. It can open on both platforms in a browser or in an available Google application, subject to connection and phone compatibility.
Can the same link be used in multiple media?
Yes, if all media concern the same profile. For multiple businesses, use the specific link for each profile.
What to do if the link opens the wrong address?
Do not program it. Go back to the correct profile, retrieve a new link, and repeat the test in incognito mode.
Once the link is validated, you can provide it when ordering your NFC plaque for Google reviews. To understand what happens next, consult the guide on how the NFC plaque works or the comparison NFC or QR code.
